Classic Never Looked So Good!

Jennifer and Terrel have one of those modern love stories. Boy sees Girl on his friend’s Instagram. Boy convinces his friend to call the Girl and set up an introduction. Boy met Girl and asked her on a date….and the rest, well it led us here to their classically beautiful black and white wedding!

Terrel pulled off quite the surprise proposal on New Year’s eve, even enlisting Jennifer’s friends to help make the surprise even more special. Jennifer’s girlfriend hosted a New Year’s Eve Party, and several of her college girlfriends came into town under the guise of wanting to celebrate the new year in Chicago. Right before the clock struck midnight, the hostess asked everyone to go around the room and share what they were thankful for – Terrel was the last to share, which is when he proposed! What a great way to start a new year, right?!

When we got together to plan Jennifer and Terrel’s wedding, we knew that Classic Elegance would be the theme of the day. To set the mood, I designed a floral backdrop using cream and white tones to add some texture and separation to ensure our couple was the primary focus during the ceremony. We off-set the ceremony backdrop with stark white pillars topped with tall glass vases filled with velvety white roses.  Jennifer’s bridesmaids wore sleek, black floor-length gowns and carried bouquets of white roses with touches of greenery at the base, and their look popped as they stood against our white floral wall! The invitation suite also brought a touch of green into the color theme while keeping the tone classic with gold foiled lettering.

Nurit Hen designed Jennifer’s dress. She initially went shopping with her best friend, along with her mother, aunt, and mother-in-law. While the ladies had a great time together trying on gowns and found some that she really liked, none of them felt like THE ONE. Later, Jennifer and her mom went alone to a small bridal boutique where she found her dream dress. She said, “it was the first dress where I felt like a bride!”

One of the things I enjoyed most about Terrel and Jennifer was how much they loved each other and how kindly they spoke about each other. You can tell they were loved by all who shared their day with them, as they were surrounded by friends who kept the mood light and fun for the whole day.

The reception kicked off with a Second Line, complete with a live brass band – such a fun way to make an entrance! The reception was a classic ballroom setting so that the dancing could go on all night long! Partway through the reception, Jennifer changed into a second dress with a sexy plunge neckline and a slit made for dancing! One of my favorite details from their reception was their delicious cake from Gambinos – it was a three-tiered almond cake with strawberry filling and white buttercream. The bottom later was metallic rose gold, which gave that extra special pop of elegance to their cake table!

Whether you want a classic wedding or a modern marvel, I love making your wedding dreams come true. The Lavishly Chic experience is fully custom, so your day will be uniquely you and entirely unforgettable!
