When you are true New Orleans natives, there is only one way to celebrate your wedding, and that is with a party that is as glamorous and festive as the city itself. And indeed, this celebration of their love felt like a celebration of their hometown as they paid homage to the city that raised them with many New Orleans elements highlighting their wedding weekend.

Kristin and Louis reconnected through mutual friends late in the summer of 2016. They’d met years before at a local nightclub called Dreams, where Louis failed to get Kristin’s number. Fortunately, he fared better at their second meeting, and they began a courtship that spanned 18 months of long-distance and a romantic Christmas proposal that resulted in 2020’s wedding of the year for LCD Events!

They chose Leap Day, February 29, 2020, and with love like theirs, that made many leaps together (a long-distance relationship + a move across two states), this iconic day was a perfect choice. Before you worry about how they will celebrate an anniversary that only comes around once every four years, Louis told us he has plans for little celebrations every year on February 28, with even bigger plants to celebrate when that Leap Year Anniversary comes around. Having a celebration that shows off your love in a big way every four years is worth waiting for, don’t you agree?

Kristin’s bridal style was lush with classic elegance, from the black and white theme with a bold pop of red carried out through the day with a gorgeous red lip and some iconic red-bottomed shoes! Their guests kept it classy and formal with black ties and formal gowns. Since their wedding occurred just four days after Mari Gras, keeping that luxury party vibe of opulence and celebration was part of the New Orleans experience Kristin and Louis wanted to bring to their guests. They even provided each guest with a mini King Cake as party favors!

Wedding day celebrations kicked off with their closest friends and family joining them as they got ready to say I do. The mood was so relaxed and festive the wedding party even had time to create tik toks and enjoy their time together! It was clear that Kristin and Lou are deeply loved by all who know them. So much, so their wedding celebration had 600 guests celebrating with them! Even with a large number of guests, this special day radiated relaxed energy, and the joy of Kristin and Louis’s love for each other was clearly the theme of the day.

There were custom touches throughout every aspect of their wedding day! Starting with the embossed invitation suite delivered in a gold foil box to the bride’s Martina Liana gown customized to Kristin’s refined style, each detail was thoughtfully designed for our couple. One of my favorite elements was their Gold, and Black custom dance floor in honor of Kristin’s beloved Saint’s. You know a man loves a woman when he lets her bring her football team into the wedding decor despite being a 49ers fan himself! Kristin didn’t let Lou’s favorite team be left out of the celebration and made sure his groom’s cake showed off his team spirit as well! She even included one of their pups into the cake design so their babies could share in their special day as well!

The party for Kristin and Louis reception was nonstop. They were surrounded by their family and friends on the dance floor from the moment the music started until the reception ended in true New Orleans fashion with a second line and Zulu tramp. We are still feeling all the festive love of this beautiful celebration. It was truly a night to remember!

Designers notes:

When creating a theme for Kristin and Louis, I wanted to give their classic Black and White theme a touch that hadn’t been done before. A grand floral entrance to the ballroom framed the custom drapery design to tie together the modern vibe of their wedding celebration with the traditional elegance that comes with a New Orleans style celebration. Pops of red came in through the bridesmaid’s florals and continued with touches here and there, like the desert carts and dinner napkins  to add a bit of whimsy to the overall design.

This wedding allowed my team to work with some of New Orleans’s finest wedding vendors. Kristin and Louis chose a DJ and hype man who could keep the party flowing throughout the evening transitions, which kept the mood elevated and the guests dancing. We always love working with DJ Keith Scott. He knows how to handle a dance floor! The photography team was led by Calvin Gavion, who captures a perfect mix of editorial images and candid photos for a strong storytelling style. Justen Williams of 343 Media led the videography team, and I always look forward to his wedding films! The stellar Tracie Turner of Face by Trace provided hair and makeup, and like always, she brought flawless beauty to the entire wedding party.
